Director Heng Monychenda said "To believe that in this time our BFD organization has stayed alive and now has 150 staff in 7 provinces is truly wonderful” says Heng Monychenda, Director and Founder of BFD. “We feel very thankful that we have been able to achieve so much for the people of Cambodia, and we hope to be able to repeat our contribution over the next 20 years”. “From its central office in Wat Anlongvil in Battambang Cambodia, BFD has provided services to village communities since 1990. Social welfare and human rights, rural development and farmer cooperatives, supporting improvement in local governance, health and education particularly of youth and children have all been undertaken in a spirit of community service. |
Looming problems need urgent attention
Cambodia has a hugely youthful population (approx 70% of population is less than 30 years old, 50% less than 20 years old). Successful engagement of these young people in all aspects of society is critical for Cambodia’s future welfare. Projects linking youth especially rural youth, into formal education, governance, politics and local community development, and into ethical and moral frameworks that support community cohesion are very much needed. These and other new BFD project areas would welcome support from donors.
